Title: Brenda Andress, Executive Director of the Canadian Woman’s Hockey League and Sami Jo Small, Olympic Athlete presented Mayor Lehman with a commemorative picture of the Clarkson Cup as an expression of their appreciation to the City of Barrie for hosting the Clarkson Cup. Ms. Andress commented on the professionalism of Barrie’s staff and the support provided by members of City Council, including their attendance at the games. She noted that the welcome extended by the City of Barrie was guaranteed to be talked about for years. Ms. Small thanked the City of Barrie for stepping in to host the Clarkson Cup given the relatively short notice. She extended a special note of appreciation to Councillor Robinson for her support. Ms. Small observed that Barrie’s hosting of the Clarkson Cup was an opportunity to provide female mentors for young women and that she was proud of the accomplishments of women’s hockey, as well as her own team the Toronto Aeros.
