Title: Carla Ladd, Chief Administrative Officer presented the Recycling Council of Ontario’s (RCO) bronze 2012 Waste Minimization Award for Municipal Communications to the City of Barrie. She noted that the RCO is a not-for profit organization. She described the judging criteria and the evaluation process associated with the award. Ms. Ladd noted that the bronze award was presented to the City in recognition of its comprehensive waste reduction community programs, which covered all events for a full year. Ms. Ladd presented the Municipal Waste Association’s silver 2012 Promotion and Education Award to the City of Barrie in recognition of the 2012 Waste Reduction Calendar. She provided the judging criteria and highlighted the requirements for the award. She recognized the efforts of the staff in the Environmental Operations Branch. Mayor Lehman extended his appreciation to the Environmental Operations Branch staff and commented that the awards highlight the accomplishments of the City in improving the long term health and sustainability of the City.
