Title: OPEN DELEGATION BY NOELLA ROBERT-KAPPEL REGARDING THE FUTURE OF BARRIE CITY CAMPS AT TYNDALE PARK Noella Robert-Kappel provided an Open Delegation concerning the future of Barrie City Camps at Tyndale Park. Ms. Robert-Kappel advised that since the City of Barrie began hosting city camps at Tyndale Park that this park has now become a popular location for residents and out of town visitors during the summer months. She discussed her concerns related to overcrowding at the park and how she felt that with summer camps set to resume in 2021 that a decision may need to be made whether priority access should be provided to camps, residents or out of town visitors as this park is unable to accommodate all three of these groups on a daily basis. Noella Robert-Kappel provided an Open Delegation concerning the future of Barrie City Camps at Tyndale Park.

Ms. Robert-Kappel advised that since the City of Barrie began hosting city camps at Tyndale Park that this park has now become a popular location for residents and out of town visitors during the summer months. She discussed her concerns related to overcrowding at the park and how she felt that with summer camps set to resume in 2021 that a decision may need to be made whether priority access should be provided to camps, residents or out of town visitors as this park is unable to accommodate all three of these groups on a daily basis. Ms. Robert-Kappel described how the beach area at Tyndale Park is small and when summer camps are taking place that a portion of the beach is cordoned off limiting access for other beachgoers.

Ms. Robert-Kappel advised that south-end of Barrie has seen a significant population growth over the years and noted that she feels that this has had an impact on the visitors to Tyndale Park. She described how Barrie beaches including those set in remote locations within the City have seen an increase in the amount of visitors during the summer. She felt that this increase is due to Barrie's close proximity to the Greater Toronto Area and that surrounding municipalities have limited access to their own beaches.

Ms. Robert Kappel provided suggestions such as removing Tyndale Park as a camp location and possibly relocating the camps to a wider beach such as Johnson's Beach or Centennial Beach, or to a park that has no parking. She also suggested that consideration be made to make Tyndale Park a resident's only park and also provide access for camps and other type sports.
