PRESENTATION BY REPRESENTATIVES OF WATER FIRST, A NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION (NGO) DEDICATED TO HELPING FIRST NATIONS COMMUNITIES SOLVE LOCAL WATER CHALLENGES THROUGH EDUCATION, TRAINING AND COLLABORATION (21-G-209) (ITEM FOR DISCUSSION 8.7, AUGUST 9, 2021)
John Millar and Sam Murray of Water First provided a presentation regarding Water First who are non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to helping First Nations Communities solve local water challenges through education, training and collaboration.
Mr. Millar discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An overview of the organization and their mandate;
• The Water First Environmental Projects;
• The In-School Water Education Projects;
• An illustration depicting the found partners of the Drinking Water Internship program;
• The partners associated with the drinking water program;
• The purpose of the Drinking Water Internship Program;
• An outline of the Drinking Water Internship Program; and
• The community benefits related to the internship program and the efforts to enhance stewardship and sustainability of community drinking water systems.
Members of Committee asked several questions of Mr. Millar and Ms. Murray and received responses.
