BRADFORD STREET ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT - ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PRESENTATION BY CIMA+
Brett Gratrix, Infrastructure Planning Engineer introduced Katherine Jim, Civil Engineering Lead and Gillian Thompson, Environmental Assessment Lead for CIMA+ to provide a presentation on the Class Environmental Assessment for the Bradford Street Corridor and an active transportation facility planning approach.
Ms. Jim and Ms. Thompson discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An overview on the Project Team from CIMA+;
• The long-range corridor planning for the multi-modal needs on Bradford Street;
• The four-phase approach and timelines for the project;
• An overview on cycling facilities from the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Book 18;
• The OTM three-step process in selecting a cycle facility;
• The recommendation from Step 1 for physically separated bikeways;
• The type of facilities for physically separated bikeways;
• The cycle track proposed for Bradford Street;
• A rendering illustrating the City’s standard cross section;
• Options for physically separated bicycle lanes, cycle track, in-boulevard multi-use paths and two-way cycle track; and
• The next steps for the project.
Members of Committee asked a number of questions to Ms. Jim and Ms. Thompson and City staff and received responses.
