Title: PRESENTATION REGARDING THE BARRIE PUBLIC LIBRARY PROPOSED 2022 BUDGET REQUEST Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library and Austin Mitchell, Chair of the Barrie Public Library Board provided a presentation concerning the Barrie Public Library (BPL) proposed 2022 Budget Request. Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library and Austin Mitchell, Chair of the Barrie Public Library Board provided a presentation concerning the Barrie Public Library (BPL) proposed 2022 Budget Request.  She commented that the budget maintains service levels while expanding community outreach collections and the creation of flexible engaging spaces. 

 

Ms. Jessop and Mr. Mitchell discussed slides concerning the following topics;

 

                     The Barrie Public Library Strategic Plan;

                     The significant increases in usage of digital library services, online learning, technology and eResource;

                     The expansion of library services and refresh spaces;

                     A summary of the innovative and adaptation of services of Library services during the COVID-19 pandemic;

                     The social supports, services and programs available to the community in partnership with community partners, volunteers and social agencies;

                     A review of the number of services provided to the community in 2021;

                     A summary of the BPL’s 2022 Budget request;

                     The expansion and funding for the Holly Community Library; and

                     The expansion of outreach to the community “BPL on the GO”.

 

Members of City Council asked a number of questions of Ms. Jessop and Mr. Mitchell and received responses.
