PRESENTATION BY THE YMCA SIMCOE/MUSKOKA CONCERNING A NEW YMCA IN BARRIE: BUILDING A CENTRE OF COMMUNITY IN OUR DOWNTOWN
Jill Tettmann, Chief Executive Officer, Lynn Strachan, Board Chair, Brian Tamblyn, Capital Campaign Co-Chair and Kristen Schreiner from of the YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka provided a presentation concerning the proposal of a new YMCA in Downtown Barrie.
Ms. Tettmann, Ms. Strachan, Mr. Tamblyn discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• An architectural rendering of the proposed site and layout for the new YMCA;
• An overview on the YMCA as a registered charity serving Barrie for over 100 years and the services provided;
• The YMCA’s commitment to wellbeing for the community;
• The new YMCA as a community hub in Barrie’s Downtown;
• The community programs and services offered by the YMCA;
• Maximizing the impact of community partners;
• A partner in developing the City’s Downtown Core;
• The proposed floor plans for the proposed new facility;
• Supporting testimonials from the community for the YMCA; and
• A pie graph illustrating the confirmed funding for the project.
Members of Council asked a number of questions to the presenters and received responses.
