Councillor A. Kungl introduced Dr. Shilpa Dogra, Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences (Kinesiology) from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and provided context on both background and achievements.

 

Dr. S. Dogra provided a presentation on The Future of Transportation: Integrated, Age-Friendly, Barrier Free, Electrified, Active Transportation and discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     Displacing Sedentary Transportation with Active Transportation: A Green, Age-Friendly Approach to Improved Health of People and the Planet;

                     Active Transportation in older adults, active living, and constraints;

                     Multi-modal transportation that is both equitable and barrier-free;

                     Integrated transportation recommendations, intended transportation effects, and health and environmental effects;

                     E-bikes used by older adults with feedback and rules and regulations regarding use; and

                     Increasing access through share or rental programs, the improving of policies through differentiating between a pedelec and an e-bike to minimize conflict and create an urban mobility consortium.
