Jane Sinclair, General Manager of Health and Emergency Services, J.C. Gilbert, Deputy Chief of Operations and Tanya Devries-Porter, Administrator for the County of Simcoe provided a presentation concerning an overview on the Health and Emergency Services and Municipal Requirements of the County of Simcoe.

 

Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Gilbert, Ms. Devries-Porter discussed slides concerning the following topics:

 

                     The 2021 cost sharing breakdowns;

                     The legislative requirements under the Ambulance Act;

                     The paramedic services and operations for emergency medical responses;

                     The average call volume and response time for emergency medical responses;

                     An overview of funding received from the Ministry of Health;

                     The community support programs supported by the County, i.e., Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) and Community Paramedicine;

                     The Capital Plan for paramedic services;

                     An operating cost comparison of municipality paramedic services;

                     An emergency services cost comparison between paramedic, net paramedic, police, and fire;

                     The legislative requirements within the Long-Term Care Homes Act (2007);

                     An overview on long-term care, regional support services, and operational considerations;

                     The Ministry of Long-Term Care operational funding;

                     Ontario’s Long-Term Care Staffing Plan for 2021-2025; and

                     Long-term redevelopment, capital planning, operating costs and budget levy for 2021.

 

Members of the Committee asked questions of Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Gilbert, and Ms. Devries-Porter and received responses.
