Title: Brock Edwards of Bear Creek Secondary School thanked members of City Council for the opportunity to participate in the Student Mayor Program. He noted that he was able to take part in two Council meetings and learn about the decision making process. Brock commented that he was surprised with how much thought and discussion goes into each proposal that is presented to Council and noted that he was impressed with how members of Council were able to reach decisions in a timely manner. Brock stated that he enjoyed serving his term as Student Mayor. He thanked members of Council for treating him with respect and commented that this learning experience has increased his appreciation for the City. Cole Walsh of Johnson Street Public School thanked members of City Council for the opportunity to serve as Student Mayor.  He commented that he felt participating as a Student Mayor was an amazing experience and would be of benefit to anyone interested in politics.  Cole explained that he was honoured that the students of Johnson Street Public School voted for him to represent the school.  He stated that the Student Mayor Program has provided him with the opportunity to learn about what happens during a City Council meeting and how Council members determine what is best for the City.  Cole concluded by thanking members of Council for the opportunity and by indicating that he enjoyed his term of office.

 

Mayor Lehman presented Brock and Cole with certificates commemorating their term of office as Student Mayors and thanked them for their participation in the Student Mayor Program.
