Olivia Goglidze of Ferndale Woods Elementary School discussed her experience as Student Mayor. She highlighted that the most intriguing part of her experience was listening to the many topics, such as Council’s response to the ice storm and efforts to keep the public informed, City finances, and how these matters impact the community.
Olivia indicated that she took the role of Student Mayor seriously and spoke to her classmates and teachers about local issues such as safer crosswalks, more activities in parks and recreation programs, and improvements to road conditions.
Olivia thanked members of Council, City staff, and her school for their support, and she hopes more students take the opportunity to participate in the Student Mayor Program.
