C. Dillon, Accessibility Co-ordinator provided an update concerning the Age-Friendly Community Plan project. She advised that the Plan was presented to the Executive Management Team in January, 2017 and that a staff report will be going forward to General Committee at a future meeting.
Ms. Dillon advised that the City will not be applying to the Province of Ontario for a grant to implement the Age-Friendly Community Plan as the Plan does not meet any of the grant criteria.
Ms. Dillon also advised that an evaluation for the Age-Friendly Communities Plan will be released in the near future and that it will align closely with the Plan and the World Health Organization. | Received | |

R. Cotton, provided an update and handout attached as Appendix “A” to the Report of the Seniors Advisory Committee dated February 13, 2017 regarding the current inventory for seniors housing including rentals, life leases and non-profit housing providers.
Mr. Cotton advised that some of the senior facilities have plans to expand in the near future, however there is a great need for affordable housing for seniors now. He noted that the waitlist for seniors housing is continuing to increase with over 700 seniors on the list. | Received | |
