C. Dillon, Accessibility Coordinator discussed with the Committee about an upcoming Accessibility Audit of City Hall. Ms. Dillon commented that there have been changes to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements since the previous audit of City Hall had been completed in 2007. Ms. Dillon invited the Committee members to participate with the Accessibility Audit of City Hall. D. Rigden, Plans Examiner II provided a brief outline of the Ontario Building Code as it relates to accessibility. K. C. Dillon, Accessibility Coordinator provided an update regarding National Access Awareness Week - Recognition of the 30th Anniversary of Rick Hansen’s Man in Motion Tour and the inception of National Access Awareness Week. Ms. Dillon commented that there is a toolkit available from the Rick Hansen Foundation to support National Access Awareness Week.
Ms. Dillon highlighted that there are plans for each municipality in Simcoe County to coordinate events on same day and/or week in recognition of National Access Awareness Week in an effort to capture and bring more awareness to accessibility. She noted that exact dates still need to be determined. Ms. Dillon suggested that the Committee could propose a date for an event for National Access Awareness Week. | Received | |
