Jackson noted that he underestimated the complexity of discussions and the different concerns of the residents. Mr. Scott discussed the Historic Neigbourhood Strategy implemented in 2010 and congratulated staff on the current program and proposed design guidelines. He thanked staff for allowing the Association and Committee’s input as they were delighted by the outcome. Mr. Scott commented that there is one item within the proposed Guidelines that has been difficult to address related to additions to properties within the historic neighbourhoods.

Ms. Kelly Lester provided a deputation in opposition to motion 16-G-082, Sam Cancilla Park Gazebo Rehabilitation. Ms. Lester reiterated discussions by General Committee concerning the types of rehabilitation that should be considered for Sam Cancilla Park and the gazebo. She noted that she is aware that the park will receive a makeover in the next five years and provided suggestions for the $25,000 that would not be used as part of the proposed option, such as extending the asphalt path in the park to the road, or having Georgian College students paint a mural on one of the walls. Ms. Lester advised that she has seen young families use the swing sets. Ms. Lester also suggested if the park is re-graded consideration be given to a tiny stage/plateau to be used for cultural and children’s events.
