Councillor Kungl advised that nominations are being accepted until November 10, 2025. The Committee discussed the upcoming Heritage Barrie Awards, including award categories and criteria, nomination process, changing the type of award from photographs to artisan gift, and selecting the winners at their November meeting. The Committee members brainstormed new award ideas at their meeting. Camille Prospero will do some research on gift ideas and report back at the next meeting. TMP-34688 2  Discussion ItemSTATUS OF MUNICIPAL HERITAGE REGISTRY Liam Munnoch, Senior Planner (Housing) provided an update concerning the heritage designation of the nine properties, including the designation by-laws being adopted by City Council on September 17, 2025. The Committee suggested getting feedback from property owners about their experience through the heritage designation process and getting photographs of the plaques on their properties. Mr. Munnoch advised that he will engage with the nine designated property owners and report back to the Committee. Mr. Munnoch provided an update on the quote for twelve plaques (nine designated and three listed properties). Members of Committee provided their feedback to Mr. Munnoch The Committee approved an expenditure of $9,424.20 from the Heritage Barrie Committee budget to support the purchase of twelve plaques (nine designated and three listed properties).Received  Action details Not available
TMP-34693 2  Discussion ItemDOORS OPEN BARRIE The Committee discussed the Doors Open Barrie event scheduled on September 27, 2025. Craig Froese advised that the Heritage Barrie Tent will be set up at the waterfront for Doors Open Barrie and that he will be providing walking tours of the military park. Committee members discussed delivering historic neighbourhood guides to Doors Open Barrie locations. Councillor, C. Riepma thanked Amanda Dyke, Culture Development Officer and staff in Economic and Creative Development for organizing the 2025 Doors Open Barrie Event. Deb Exel advised that she will be making larger edits to the Historic Neighbourhood Guides, and that printing of the guides is anticipated for 2026.Received  Action details Not available
