13-A-071 1  Presentation - AC/RCMayor Lehman recognized the members of the Barrie Spirit Under 15 Girls Soccer Team who will be travelling to Reykjavik, Iceland to participate in the Vodafone Rey Cup Soccer Tournament. Coach Clive Spurgeon provided an overview of the Barrie Spirit’s Soccer Team accomplishments. Mr. Spurgeon noted that the Barrie Spirit Soccer Team were the only North American team participating in the tournament. Two of the Soccer Team Captains introduced the remainder of the team members. Mayor Lehman presented the Barrie Spirit U15 Girls Soccer Team with a pewter sculpture and an image of the Barrie Waterfront to be given to the Mayor of Reykjavik. Mayor Lehman congratulated the team on their accomplishments and extended best wishes for the tournament.   Action details Not available
13-A-072 1  Presentation - AC/RCBobbie Whittington, Anne Lee, Jennifer Townshend and Mary Van Essen of the Welcome Wagon presented Mayor Lehman with the Welcome Wagon Community of the Year Award for 2012. Mary Van Essen explained that the award reflects the outstanding support and participation of the City of Barrie and its business community for the Welcome Wagon in Barrie. She described the program running in the City of Barrie as well as special events hosted by the Welcome Wagon. She thanked City Council and the Barrie business community for their on-going support of the program. Mayor Lehman noted that he is honoured to receive the award on behalf of the Welcome Wagon volunteers and will display it with pride within City Hall.   Action details Not available

Mr. Patterson outlined the components related to the Waterfront and Marina Strategic Plan which include the categorization of parks into three activity centres, trail improvements, active transportation, better connecting corridors to the waterfront and place making elements such as location identifiers, signage and wayfinding panels. Mr. Patterson highlighted the major elements and the current and future capital projects associated with the Waterfront and Marina Strategic Plan. He explained the opportunities and enhancement possibilities associated with the Marina Improvement Plan. He noted the potential partnership opportunities related to the Outdoor Performance Centre, Memorial Square and future kiosk and concession opportunities.
