TMP-25230 2  Item of DiscussionCOMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT UPDATE R. Lay, Community Engagement Advisor provided an update on the status the Community Safety Well-Being Plan Survey as of December 5, 2019. Mr. Lay provided his suggestions on ways to outreach with the community associated to the Survey. The Committee provided their feedback on the survey to Mr. Lay and they discussed their comments in further details. R. Calvano advised that he will follow up with the Georgian College Research and Analyst Program (RAP) students concerning the results of the Survey and will report back at the next meeting. D. McAlpine, General Manager of Community and Corporate Services suggested extending the deadline of the Survey until the end of January, 2020.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-25228 2  Discussion ItemCOMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT UPDATE Police Chief, K. Greenwood provided an outline of a Community Perspectives Project initiative undertaken by the Barrie Police Service, and that would also support the development of Barrie’s next Community Safety Well-Being Plan. She noted that the Community Perspectives Project will also support the work of Collaborate Barrie and Connected Core. Chief Greenwood advised that the Barrie Police Service have engaged with MASS LBP, a leading Canadian organization dedicated to creating more inclusive communities and responsive public services. She highlighted on the city’s rapid growth and the changes that are straining its social, community health and policing resources. Chief Greenwood provided an overview of Phase 1 and 2 of the Community Perspectives Project Proposal. She discussed establishing a working group to support the project and she is looking for Committee members that are interested in participating in the working group.
