Robert Cook on behalf of the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) provided an Open Delegation seeking the City of Barrie’s support concerning the Province of Ontario Bill 197, COVID-19 Economy Recovery Act, 2020 and its impact on Mr. Cook discussed slides concerning the following topics: · The background of OWMA and Provincial Bill 197, COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act, 2020; · The legislative changes related to Bill 197 and its impact on municipal autonomy and landfill developments; · The potential impact and consequences; · The OWMA’s support of City of St. Catharines’ Resolution dated October 5, 2020 concerning landfill development. In closing, Mr. Cook commented that the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) was looking for support of the City of St. Catharines resolution dated October 5, 2020 concerning development approval requirements for landfills.
