Brett Gratrix, Infrastructure Planning Engineer introduced Katherine Jim, Civil Engineering Lead and Gillian Thompson, Environmental Assessment Lead for CIMA+ to provide a presentation on the Class Environmental Assessment for the Bradford Street Corridor and an active transportation facility planning approach.
Ms. Jim and Ms. Thompson discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· An overview on the Project Team from CIMA+;
· The long-range corridor planning for the multi-modal needs on Bradford Street;
· The four-phase approach and timelines for the project;
· An overview on cycling facilities from the Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Book 18;
· The OTM three-step process in selecting a cycle facility;
· The recommendation from Step 1 for physically separated bikeways;
· The type of facilities for physically separated bikeways;
· The cycle track proposed for Bradford Street;
· A rendering illustrating the City’s standard cross section;

Mike Darmon and Mike Hager from the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT) provided a presentation on the GCAT organization and played a video illustrating the Bike the Night Event.
Mr. Darmon and Mr. Hager discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· The GCAT’s mission and approach to promote active transportation;
· The organizations approach for advocacy;
· Resources to learn about active transportation;
· The Bikes for Community Connections project;
· The goals and inspiration of the Bike the Night Event;
· Pictures illustrating the Event;
· Other cycling events promoting active transportation; and
· Successes and lessons learned from active transportation events.
