Amanda Dyke, Culture Officer - Development provided a presentation on the Barrie Arts Awards.
Ms. Dyke showed a short video of a previous arts ceremony and discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· Background and history of the event;
· Recognition awards with seven categories;
· Process for the awards: promotion, nominations, who receives and reviews the nominations, award statuettes, and the awards Gala;
· The 2021/2022 Event Plan, celebrating 2021 in May 2022, the nominations launch in February, Gala date to be announced, maintain 2019 categories and consider new ones, and the awards show; and
· Input and feedback on the 2021/2022 program and the role the Arts Advisory Committee might play.
The Committee provided suggestions regarding when the awards should be held, creating a program for the event, switching newly created categories as an alternative to adding more categories to the awards list.
