The Committee discussed making changes to its mandate and objectives within the Terms of Reference and adding the development of an annual work plan to include a City supported Town Hall for the next term. Scott Lamantia, Senior Communications Advisory discussed the Committee’s inquiry about holding a Town Hall, the difficulties of a hybrid Town Hall at locations like the Meridian Place, and suggested City run locations for the City’s Communications Department to record and live stream onto the City’s YouTube channel. Mr. Lamantia indicated that the Communications Department would be happy to assist in promoting the Town Hall meetings through City resources to encourage people to attend and learn more about the Committee. He advised that the first step is to pick a date, time, and location.
The Committee discussed having Town Halls in June and October to align with Seniors Month in June and National Seniors Day in October. The Committee and Mr. Lamantia discussed putting together a survey consisting of approximately 10 to 15 questions to get feedback, as well as promoting the Town Hall.

Kungl discussed the nominations for a Senior of the Year done by the City of Orillia and the Town of Wasaga Beach and inquired if the Committee would like to incorporate something into its mandate. Councillor Kungl also mentioned the potential for a seniors category for the Annual Spirit Catcher Award.

Lucia Ricardo provided an update on the CNIB relating to an open house in June at its new location at 90 Collier Street, posting for a new Technology Lead, still not in-person programs, and community consultations for seniors through continued virtual programming or a survey.
Molly Malcolm discussed the effects COVID-19 has had on the residents of Victoria Village.
Heather Stone indicated that the Red Cross, Friendly Phone Calls, and Meals on Wheels remain business as usual. Ms. Stone mentioned that transportation is limited to essential trips only, as well as Friendly Visiting is still on hold.
Heather Kenehan provided that both the 55 Plus Centres at Allendale Recreation Centre and Parkview Centre are open and welcoming both new and returning members. Ms. Kenehan discussed the return of some active and social programming that align with the City’s current recreation protocols around COVID-19.
