Councillor A. Kungl introduced Dr. Shilpa Dogra, Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences (Kinesiology) from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and provided context on both background and achievements.
Dr. S. Dogra provided a presentation on The Future of Transportation: Integrated, Age-Friendly, Barrier Free, Electrified, Active Transportation and discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· Displacing Sedentary Transportation with Active Transportation: A Green, Age-Friendly Approach to Improved Health of People and the Planet;
· Active Transportation in older adults, active living, and constraints;
· Multi-modal transportation that is both equitable and barrier-free;
· Integrated transportation recommendations, intended transportation effects, and health and environmental effects;
· E-bikes used by older adults with feedback and rules and regulations regarding use; and

Adam McMullin, Manager of Energy, provided a presentation on The City of Barrie Community Energy and Green House Gas (GHG) Reductions Plan.
Mr. McMullin discussed slides concerning the following topics:
· Council Support for climate and energy action;
· Developing the Plan: Establish Energy and GHG Emissions Baseline and prepare a business-as-planned scenario, prepare reduction strategies, define community targets, draft Community Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan and present to Council;
· Plan Framework with vision, principles, big moves, goals, strategies, and implementation;
· Barrie’s emissions in 2018 based on institutional buildings, industrial buildings, commercial buildings, residential buildings, waste and wastewater, et cetera;
· Big moves and goals consisting of near zero emissions in new and existing building stock, from transportation, waste reduction through a circular economy, and liveable neighbourhoods that support efficiency, mixed-use, and complete communities and protection of the natural environment;

Brett Gratrix, Senior Project Manager - Transportation Planning, Development Services shared a few slides that were part of the presentation from the previous meeting, slides 11-13, regarding a planning study for potential improvements at the intersection of Tiffin Street and Essa Road. Mr. Gratrix provided that the scope expaned to include a Bradford Street corridor, considering the amount of development that will occur. He discussed potential cycle track options, such as cycle track next to lane 34m, cycle track next to sidewalk 36m, bike lane and buffer 34m, bike lane and buffer 36m, and a multi-use path.
