TMP-29083 2  Discussion ItemNATIONAL ACCESSABILITY WEEK Cheryl Dillon, Disability Management and Accessibility Specialist provided a historical background concerning National AccessAbility Week. Ms. Dillon advised that a proclamation has been prepared to proclaim the week of May 29th to June 4th, 2022 as National AccessAbililty Week. The Committee discussed ideas for events to recognize National AccessAbility Week such as “Who’s Missing Installation regarding the impact of COVID”. Ms. Dillon noted that in person events have not resumed but that there is the potential for a virtual event. She suggested that the Committee plan a flag raising and also have information posted on the City’s website and social media concerning accessibility. Ms. Dillon advised that she would explore options and will coordinate a flag raising date with the staff in the Mayor(s) Office for National AccessAbility Week, and will report back to the Committee.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-29084 2  Discussion ItemMULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN UPDATE Cheryl Dillon, Disability Management and Accessibility Specialist provided a status update concerning the 2021 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. Ms. Dillon acknowledged the accomplishments and the value the Committee brings to the community. She noted that the Committee has provided feedback on many 2021 projects related to accessibility such as the wheelchair swing, Official Plan Amendment, Heritage Park Master Plan, Heritage Trail Signage, Pickleball, sidewalks and walkways, public washrooms, single use plastics and provided suggestions on accessibility improvements for a shopping plaza in Barrie. Ms. Dillon advised that she will be preparing a memorandum to City Council to provide an update concerning the 2021 Multi Year Accessibility Plan.Received  Action details Not available
TMP-29085 2  Discussion ItemVOLT HOCKEY UPDATE Catherine Kenwell, Chair provided an update concerning Volt Hockey. Ms. Kenwell advised that Committee members had the opportunity to try out the electronic chairs used for Volt Hockey which provides an accessible option for floor hockey. The Committee members provided their feedback and agreed that Volt Hockey was a lot of fun. Catherine Kenwell highlighted that the Volt Hockey Try It event will continue throughout the month of May, 2022 at the East Bayfield Community Centre for those interested community members.Received  Action details Not available
