BARRIE ARTS AWARDS
Amanda Dyke, Culture Officer - Development provided a presentation on the Barrie Arts Awards.
Ms. Dyke showed a short video of a previous arts ceremony and discussed slides concerning the following topics:
• Background and history of the event;
• Recognition awards with seven categories;
• Process for the awards: promotion, nominations, who receives and reviews the nominations, award statuettes, and the awards Gala;
• The 2021/2022 Event Plan, celebrating 2021 in May 2022, the nominations launch in February, Gala date to be announced, maintain 2019 categories and consider new ones, and the awards show; and
• Input and feedback on the 2021/2022 program and the role the Arts Advisory Committee might play.
The Committee provided suggestions regarding when the awards should be held, creating a program for the event, switching newly created categories as an alternative to adding more categories to the awards list.
Members of the Committee asked questions of Ms. Dyke and received responses.
